Značné množství podobných konstrukcí využívá ke generaci laserového impulzu Q-spínaný pevnolátkový laser, nebo pulzně buzenou polovodičovou diodu.
 
Například jeden z nejmenších komerčních dálkoměrů \cite{MLR100} určený pro využítí v \acrshort{UAV} systémech generuje impulz o délce 15ns \acrshort{FWHM} pomocí polovodičového systému \gls{VCSEL}, elektronický pulzer využívá lavinového průrazu tranzistoru a generuje špičkové proudy až 100A. Špičkový výkon laserového pulzu pak je 64W v prostorovém úhlu 14$^\circ$ \acrshort{FWHM}.
